How does a non-invasive prenatal paternity test work?
A non-invasive prenatal paternity DNA testing supplies the most exact way to decide the paternity of a baby before birth. It uses an ultramodern process that combines the latest DNA technology and unique methods of preserving the baby’s DNA, which is naturally found in the mother’s bloodstream after 7 weeks into the pregnancy. While pregnant, this DNA test uses a simple blood sample from the mother and does not require a needle to be inserted into the womb. Both the mother and the alleged father will need to supply cheek swab samples.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE TESTING KIT?
The non-invasive prenatal paternity testing kit includes full instructions, DNA swab packages, and blood tubes for the collection of blood samples. Please note that needles are not included in the testing kit and are to be supplied by the phlebotomist. The cheek swabs ideally need to be collected by our trained sample collectors, but you may choose to do this yourself or arrange for our collector to do it, for an added charge. Blood samples are correctly collected by a specialist nurse and swiftly sent to the lab. You can arrange for a trained phlebotomist nurse to collect your blood samples or contact your GP.
