Yes, Brashan DNA makes your DNA result private.

Apart from identical twins sharing the same DNA, the DNA test result is unique to each individual and a piece of extremely personal information about a person. Sensitive information like this is therefore securely protected. At Brashan DNA, we provide a confidential service and protect your DNA result which will only be released to the sample donor, who then has the choice to use it as they please.

Our discrete service is informed by the knowledge that any type of DNA testing involves a lot of emotional stress and secrecy. While most people want to keep the fact that they are suspicious of a biological relationship private, they deserve to have the peace of mind to confirm their relationship. To this end, Brashan DNA only communicates with clients by the method that is suitable to them and at a time that is convenient for each person, during the inquiry phase. The Peace of mind testing kit is always discretely sent out in a plain white envelope that does not indicate the origin of the mail. The testing kit may also be collected from Kent to ensure that it only gets to the right person.

Once the testing kit is received, consent must be given on the form before samples are collected. The email address is also collected, as DNA results are sent out by email. If there is a need to discuss any aspect of the test before, during, and after the test, this discussion will only be done with the sample donor who signed the consent form. We ask security questions to confirm the identity of this person before any discussion.

Every personal information that is given on the website or the consent form is protected from unauthorized disclosure and kept safe. We do not sell the personal information of our clients but share them with the scientists and employees in the laboratory who need to know this information before they carry out the test. Every member of staff adheres to the code of confidentiality.

All DNA test results are password-protected PDF files attached to the email. Brashan DNA only gives the password to the sample donor who signed the consent form. This confirms the privacy of the result and ensures that only authorized persons can access the result. In adherence to GDPR, our laboratory adheres to GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) by protecting all data. Once results have been sent to the client, Brashan DNA will only store the samples for three months, after which it is destroyed. The electronic DNA results are destroyed after a year and no hard copies are kept. Brashan DNA ensures that all personal information and DNA result is kept safe by taking appropriate measures.
