£199.00

Our non-invasive Twin DNA Test kit can quickly determine whether multiple children are identical or not. As only a simple cheek swab is required, this can even be done on newborn babies. In addition, some people buy DNA (zygosity) profiles as a unique gift idea for parents expecting twins, their children, or even for multiple birth parents. LEARN MORE

A keepsake zygosity certificate is also included with the result.

Twin Zygosity DNA Test

The zygosity twin DNA test kit can quickly determine whether multiple children are identical or not. In addition, some people buy DNA (zygosity) profiles as a unique gift idea for parents expecting twins or for their twin children. LEARN MORE

Please note that a legal or immigration Twin DNA test kit is more expensive than a peace of mind test. This is because the identity of all sample donors must be verified, and samples collected must follow a strict chain of custody. LEARN MORE

How is zygosity testing conducted?
Our UK-based lab uses ultra-modern DNA testing technology to ensure the reliability and accuracy of our genetic testing. We also offer the fastest turnaround times in the UK for DNA testing. The Twin Zygosity DNA testing kit is sent directly to an address of your choice. The test kit includes mouth swabs that are used to collect cheek cell DNA from inside each sibling’s mouth. The swab is rubbed gently and painlessly on the inside of the cheek, for non-invasive DNA sample collection, with no needles required.

What happens at the laboratory?
When the samples are received in our laboratory, they are examined up to 42 specific markers (loci) present in repeat sections of DNA from each sibling. The DNA seen at each of these STR loci is compared between the tested individuals and zygosity is determined; monozygotic twins (known as identical twins) will share the same DNA profile whereas dizygotic twins (fraternal twins) will have different DNA profiles. A DNA profile is produced for each of the samples provided.
