Grandparent DNA Testing
What is the Grandparent DNA testing used for?
A grandparent DNA test can be used to establish maternity or paternity between an individual and one or more of their alleged grandparents when the alleged mother or father is unavailable or deceased. A grandparent DNA test gives the child’s grandparents peace of mind, confirming whether the child is truly related to them.
All testing and sample analysis takes place at our partner laboratory in the UK, by trained and experienced scientists.
However, the grandparent DNA test may not confirm the biological father or mother of the child as his or her DNA sample is not analyzed. It often helps to test other people related to the child, for example, the available biological mother/father or paternal uncle, to confirm the likelihood biological relationship with the grandparents. How does a Grandparent DNA test work?
The grandparent DNA test works by calculating the probability that the grandchild and grandparent(s) are related or not. Using DNA samples from both grandparents and the surviving parents can give a better indication of the true nature of the possible biological relationship as concluded from the available evidence.
Grandparent DNA Testing may be for peace of mind or legal purposes, for example when contesting an estate. Legal Grandparent DNA is more expensive than Peace of mind, as there is a strict chain of custody for the samples and the identification of all sample donors is verified. BUY NOW
